7 Essential Products for Breast Cancer Survivors
HPFY Staff Writer

Breast cancer is a form of cancer that develops in the breasts. It is one of the most common forms of cancer and although it is found more commonly in women, it can also strike men.Breast cancer can develop in different parts of the breasts – lobules, ducts, and connective tissue. Lobules are the milk-producing glands, ducts carry the milk to the nipples, and connective tissue holds everything together. Breast cancer symptoms include:

  • A lump or thickening in the breast
  • Change in the shape, size, or appearance of the breast
  • Changes in the skin over the breast
  • An inverted nipple
  • Flaking or scaling of the areola
  • Redness of the skin

If you experience any of these symptoms, reach out to a medical professional immediately. Breast cancer is much easier treat if caught in its early stages. In advanced stages where medication is not helping, breast cancer surgery may be required.

Types of Breast Surgeries

There are two main types of surgeries -

  1. Breast-conserving surgery: also known as lumpectomy, quadrantectomy, partial mastectomy, or segmental mastectomy. In this surgery, efforts are made to remove a cancerous tumor and  parts of the adjoining  tissue. How much is  removed depends on how big the tumor is and how much of the surrounding area has been affected.
  2. Mastectomy: In this type of surgery, the entire breast is removed. A double mastectomy is where both breasts are removed.

HPFY has a wide variety of products that can help you to regain confidence after breast cancer surgery. Items such as post-mastectomy bras, mastectomy breast forms, post-surgical bras, breast enhancers, gowns and camisoles, breast binders, and lumpectomy bra inserts are all designed with comfort and compassion in mind.
