Bedside Drainage Bags

A bedside drainage bag is connected to the catheter tubing and allows for free flow of urine from the bladder via the catheter and into the urine bag. These bags may also be used for nephrostomy draining. Drainage bags are available in a variety of sizes and capacities. User-friendly features improve their utility.

  • Anti-reflux: There are bedside bags with anti-reflux flutter valve which minimizes the reflux of urine from the urine bag back into the drainage tube.

Leg bags are connected to the catheter and then strapped to the inside thigh or calf using Velcro or elastic straps. It must be placed lower than the bladder in order to prevent reflux of urine back into the bladder. Leg bags for catheters come with multiple features. Choosing a urine leg bag will depend on what options you are looking for.
