Stage 1: Demineralization

Stage 2: Deteriorating Enamel

If stage 1 is not treated, it can lead to deterioration of the enamel, stage 2. In this stage, the white spots on your teeth begin to turn brown in color. As the enamel has started to deteriorate, cavities and holes start forming in the teeth. The dentist treats this permanent hole by filling the tooth. 

Stage 3: Dentin Decay

Dentin is the softer tissue between the enamel and cementum; the dentin decay situation worsens from here on. During this stage, the tubes present in the dentin connect to the tooth nerves. This leads to sensitivity, a condition wherein a person may feel pain or quivering while having anything hot or cold. 

Stage 4: Damaging Pulp

If tooth decay has reached this point, then there are only two options you can go with to treat the issue, i.e., root canal and tooth extraction. The pulp is the soft layer that has vessels and nerves; it is responsible for dentin formation, and when it is damaged, a person may feel swelling and pain inside the mouth. 

Stage 5: Pustule Formation

This is the last stage of tooth decay, and in this stage, a person may experience the formation of pustules in the mouth, i.e., a small blister that contains pus. When experiencing pustules, the person should rush to a dentist as delay in treating them can lead to severe effects on your jaw and bones.

Removing enamel can also result in tooth cavities; thus, avoiding foods containing refined sugar is the best remedy for tooth decay. You can also avoid tooth plaque by brushing after eating sugary food items. 

2. Avoid Carbonated Drinks

Carbonated drinks contain carbonic acid, phosphoric acid, and citric acid, and all of these can lead to the eradication of enamel. The carbon dioxide in the drink converts into carbonic acid after digestion, affecting your teeth poorly. Sugar deposits lead to bacterial growth. 3. Brush Twice A Day

Brushing your teeth twice daily, once in the morning before breakfast and then in the night before bed, is one of the best and easiest natural remedies for tooth decay. It will keep your teeth strong and away from dental plaque. When you have acidic substances, it weakens enamel for at least an hour, and plaque can cause permanent damage.
