Indications for Use
The PlasmaFlow model PF0001 is a simple, portable device that doctors can recommend for patients to use at home or in a clinic. It helps prevent DVT (a blood clot condition) by making the blood flow better in the arms and legs, kind of like how your muscles move.
This device can be used to:
- Prevent DVT.
- Make the blood flow better.
- Reduce pain and swelling after surgery.
- Speed up the healing of wounds.
- Help treat skin problems like stasis, dermatitis, and ulcers.
- Reduce swelling in the legs.
- It's also handy for people who will be sitting still for a long time to lower their DVT risk.
Contraindications
- Do not use PlasmaFlow for these situations:
- People with certain health issues like deep vein clots, bad artery disease, severe heart problems, bad leg inflammation, or untreated infections.
- Also, don't use it on legs with issues like damaged veins, dying tissue, skin problems, fresh skin grafts, a lot of swelling, or really messed-up legs.
- Avoid using it on people with nerve problems or legs that can't feel pain.
- Don't use it if you don't want more blood and lymph fluid going back to the heart.

Switching Modes
The Plamsaflow unit is pre-set to "Mode 1." Only switch to "Mode 2" if instructed by your physician. In order to operate the PlasmaFLow unit in "Mode 2", tap the Power Button once while the unit is powered on. The screen on the left side of the Power Button will display "O" and the screen on the right side of the Power Button will display "F2". The unit will start operating in "Mode 2" after a 10-second pause. To switch the PlasmaFlow unit back to "Mode 1," simply tap the Power Button once.
Mode 1 "Slow Inflation: Pressure will inflate to 55 mmHG and deflate.
Mode 2 "Step up Technology: The PlasmaFlow unit's pressure will increase at 10 mmHG with a pause at every increment. Once the unit reaches 55 mmHG, it will deflate in the same descending increments. Wrap the cuff around each calf and secure the Velcro to hold it in place. Make sure the wrap is snug, but not too tight.

Warnings
- Don't try to fix the device or open it up. Don't take the pump part out of the cuff, and don't try to change it in any way. Never try to service it while it's turned on.
- This is a medical device, so there are special things to be careful about:
- Don't use it in wet places.
- Don't put it in water for any reason. If you need to clean it, follow the cleaning instructions.
- Don't use a machine that superheats things to clean it.
- Keep it away from places with flammable gases.
- If it gets really cold (below 50°F or 10°C), let it warm up to room temperature.
- Be gentle with it; don't drop the pump.
- Also, keep in mind that it might interfere with certain types of communication equipment.
Battery & Charging Safety
Battery
- Don't try to change the lithium-ion battery yourself.
- Only use the batteries approved by ManaMed. Replacing them the wrong way could harm the device, so let the manufacturer do it.
- Use the specific USB charger (Part Number PFCHG) that comes with the system. Other chargers might make the battery too hot and damage it, the PlasmaFlow, or you.
- Don't use an extension cord with the battery charger because it might make things overheat.
- Also, don't use the battery charger with other devices because it could damage either the device or the charger.
Charging
- Make sure to charge both devices before you use them for the first time.
- The battery can charge whether the PlasmaFlow is on or off.
- If the battery seems to run out quickly, even after charging for four or more hours, get in touch with Customer Service.
- Don't charge the battery in these places:
- Where it's too cold (below 50°F or 10°C) or too hot (above 104°F or 40°C).
- Anywhere near water.
- Outside.
- Where small kids can reach it.
- In spots where people might step on or trip over the charger cable.
