  Karaya 5 is a natural skin barrier that is particularly well suited for sensitive skin. It has a mildly acidic pH (4.5 - 5.0) that helps maintain the natural protection of skin against bacterial growth and irritation. Karaya 5 is based on Karaya gum, a natural product derived from the stericulia urens tree that grows primarily in central and northern India. Karaya is a safe, natural product that is used as an additive in a number of foods. Some of the special properties of Karaya help protect skin. Protects skin against caustic action of digestive enzymes. Inhibits bacterial growth and attendant infections and abrasions. Maintains pH of 4.5 in the presence of acid or base substances.
