How to use Smart Bed Rail

Installation Instructions

• Locate frame to place pivot tube in line with your hip position when lying down
• Slide support frame between box spring and mattress
• Secure support frame to angle iron with supplied strap
• Slide rail into pivot tube of support frame
• Set height of rail in locked position and secure safety latch with hex key
• Install crutch tips
• Ensure rail does not impact, interfere or compromise use of surroundings

Safety

• To be used when the bed casters are locked
• For moderate vertical load bearing only
• Not intended for sideward (lateral) support
• Not intended to support the full weight of an individual
• Keep away from children to play or hang onto
• Not to be used on electric or hospital style beds
• Not to be used with light-weight mattresses, and the mattress must fully cover base frame

Warning:

• The potential risk of entrapment (limb, neck, head, torso) between the bed rail and adjacent item (i.e. mattress, headboard, side tables, etc.) can be reduced or avoided by the following strategies:
  - Situate the bed rail at a distance that is considerably smaller or larger than that which could result in entrapment
  - Consider situations that could change with time or usage such as mattress compression, patient movement, bed position changes due to electrically powered beds, etc- Realize that this product is not intended as a physical constraint or barrier to exiting the bed
