Barrier rings are designed to protect the skin around the stoma. Additionally, they help fill in uneven skin surfaces to improve the fit of the skin barrier and prevent leakage of stoma output under the skin wafer. They are circular in shape with a round hole cut in the center. The barrier disc goes around the stoma and creates a secure seal at the base of the stoma. Ostomy barrier rings are highly absorbent, guarding against moisture, including liquid and semiliquid output. They are stretchable and conformable with a strong tack.
