Irrigation Tray and Syringes

Irrigation Tray and Syringes are used to irrigate the urinary bladder effectively, sterile rinsing solutions in medical like wound irrigation, cleansing or flushing a catheter, and many other applications. The irrigation kit provides all the components necessary for catheter insertion and irrigation medical procedures. By opening a single packaged tray, the user will have all the items needed at their fingertips. These are sterile components used in catheter and bladder irrigation to reduce the risk of infection. Similarly, the catheter irrigation syringe helps in creating a connection between the needle and the catheter tip.

We at Health Products For You intend to make irrigation procedures simple and effective by bringing you high-quality products from top manufacturers. You can find many catheter irrigation trays and syringes like Covidien Irrigation Tray With Bulb Syringe, Amsino AMSure Bulb Irrigation Syringe, and the like.

What are the Contents of the Irrigation Tray?

A standard irrigation tray may contain the following items:

Why is it required to Irrigate Bladder/Catheter?

Urine is created in the kidney, flows through the ureters, and collects in the bladder. The catheter is inserted in the urethra that drains the urine from the bladder to the outside of the body. The urinary catheter needs regular cleaning and irrigation to help keep urine flowing freely through the catheter. It is important to irrigate the catheter to keep it free of mucous or blood clots so that urine can be drained out freely from the bladder and not back into the kidneys.

Normally, it is recommended to rinse the catheter in 8-hour intervals, but you may need to do it more frequently if required. If you see many sediments in the urine and the catheter is not draining properly, it is time to irrigate the catheter. The patient may need Bladder irrigation after bladder or prostate surgery. Normal saline is used for irrigation. You can use Cardinal Health Foley Catheter Insertion Tray With PVP Swabs Sticks and Cardinal Health Flat Top Catheter Tip Irrigation Syringe to carry out the procedure.

How is Irrigation done?

  1. Thoroughly scrub your hands, fingernails, and fingertips.
  2. Unpack the sterile components on a dry and flat surface.
  3. Put the drape under the connection between the urinary catheter tube and the drainage bag.
  4. Pour room-temperature normal saline into the container.
  5. Draw 60 ccs of saline into the syringe. (The amount of saline differs from person to person.)
  6. Cleanse the connect site with an alcohol swab.
  7. Disconnect the catheter from the drainage bag.
  8. Insert the tip of the syringe into the catheter tube and gently inject the saline into the catheter.
  9. Gently withdraw the fluid from the catheter with the syringe. If the saline contains a large amount of mucous and blood clots, repeat the procedure until most of the mucous has been removed.
  10. Detach the syringe from the catheter and let the fluid drain out into the basin.
  11. Reattach the catheter tube to the drainage bag.
  12. Wash your hands and equipment.
