It manages both normal and viscous exudate. Mepilex Dressing is made from polyurethane foam. Daily activity (especially exercise, but even prolonged sitting) causes dressing to form a large wrinkle/ridge over the pressure sore area; without further securing, this will lead the dressing to fold tightly onto itself and fall off within a day. The dressing adhesive is not enough by itself to prevent this. So have supplemented that adhesive by applying surgical tape along 3 sides (overlapping outer edge of dressing and skin). With this, the dressing has lasted as long as 3 days. However, it does significantly lower pain from sitting. Prolonged sitting can still be rather painful. (No problem from lying on back in bed overnight.)
