Preferred Splinting Material can be altered several times without thinning. This adaptable material has smooth, self-sealing cut edges that remain sealed even after reheating for modifications, and it resists stretching and showing strain. Forearm and hand-based splint, Preferred is thin and lightweight, yet strong, and ideal for arthritis splints, post-operative splints, and paediatric splints. 2.4mm splinting material hardens in three to five minutes after softening in 160°F (71°C) water. Dry heating two surfaces forms a strong bond; gentle, smooth motions produce the best results.
