How do Glucocard Expression Test Strips work?

1. When a drop of blood is put on the test strip, glucose in the blood reacts with glucose oxidase to produce gluconic acid.
2. A current is transferred by the glucose meter to the other end of the test strip.
3. Electric terminals on the glucose monitoring strips allow the meter to calculate the current between the terminals.
4. The current between the terminals is changed according to the level of gluconic acid produced.
5. Then an algorithm is used by the blood glucose meter to calculate the blood glucose level on the basis of the difference in current.
6. Some of the diabetic test strips allow the users to reapply more blood to the same strip if required during the test.
