How to use EZ Pen Auto-Injector?

1. Unscrew the upper and lower portions of the injector and separate them.
2. Prior to setting the injector for activation, insert the needle depth sleeve. To activate the injector, turn the lower portion around and insert the small end into the upper portion, pushing the spring until you hear a click and feel the latch engage. Then remove the lower portion from the upper portion.
3. Clean needle depth sleeve by wiping inside and out with an alcohol wipe. Now insert the previously filled syringe in the lower portion by placing the sterile cover of the syringe into the center of the large end of the lower portion of the injector. Push the syringe into the lower portion of the injector until it is completely installed in the injector and the syringe tabs bottom out against the internal components of the injector, trying not to apply pressure to the syringe plunger.
4. Align the black arrow with the injection completion window. Screw the two portions of the injector together. The injector is now activated and loaded with safety on.
5. Prepare the injection site as per the instructions given by your medical professional.
6. Remove the sterile needle cover by pushing the syringe advance button forward until the needle cover is exposed. You must push and hold the advance button in place. Carefully grasp the needle cover with your free hand and remove it, exposing the needle. Allow the syringe advancing button to return to its original position. The syringe needle is now retracted and should not be visible.
7. Apply the injector to the injection site, lightly pressing it against your skin. Slightly depress and slide the activator button to the left as shown by the arrow, the injection will occur instantaneously. Medication is fully dispensed when a colored indicator stripe shows in the completion window. Hold the injector steady until the syringe is emptied (approximately 10–15 seconds). When the injection is complete lift the injector away at 90° a right angle to the injection surface. Attend to injection sight as directed by your medical professional.
8. To remove the spent syringe, unscrew the injector and carefully pull the syringe out of the lower portion.
9. Screw injector back together and place in storage.
