How to use Coban Medical Tape?
- Unwind approximately 12 inches of wrap from the roll and allow the wrap to relax
- Without stretching, apply one full wrap and overlap. Press overlapped area lightly to keep the end in place
- Proceed with wrapping, applying tension to the wrap only to obtain the desired compression
- Always unwind more from the roll before making a wrap so that the product is not applied with too much tension
- When application is complete, cut off excess wrap

How to apply and remove Coban Wrapping Tape?
1. Unwind 12" or more of Coban LF Wrap with Hand Tear from the roll and allow the wrap to relax. Be sure to unwind a sufficient length before beginning the application.
2. Without stretching, apply one full wrap and overlap. Lightly press the overlap into place to secure.
3. Continue wrapping, applying tension to the wrap to achieve the desired compression. Apply light pressure at the end of application to secure the wrap.
4. To facilitate tearing, unwrap an additional 1" if necessary. To tear, hold the top edge of the wrap with the thumb and index finger of each hand as indicated. Stretch the wrap at the top edge. Keeping the hand closest to the application steady, tear in a front-toback motion with the other hand.
5. "Hug" the layers together to ensure that the wrap’s windings cohere to one another.
6. Remove by unwrapping or by cutting with bandage scissors.
Example Application: Securing a dressing over a head contusion or laceration
1. After placing a sterile dressing on the wound (and a cold pack, if necessary), hold the end of the Coban LF Wrap with Hand Tear over the pack and unwind approximately 12". Let the wrap relax. Place the wrap without stretching.
2. Continue unwinding Coban LF Wrap with Hand Tear from the roll and complete two full wraps around the head. Tear the wrap from the roll according to the general application instructions.
3. With the last 2" of the wrap relaxed, press the end of the wrap firmly against the underlying wrap, “hugging” the layers together.
4. To remove, unwrap the wrap or use a bandage scissors to cut the wrap away at a point furthest from the wound.
Warnings
- Coban self-adherent wrap will not slip or loosen after application. Do not wrap too tightly to avoid impairing circulation and causing serious injury. The risk of impaired circulation is higher for children.
- Monitor area frequently (no less than every 24 hours) for signs of swelling, discoloration, pain, numbness, tingling, or other changes in sensation. If these symptoms occur, remove wrap immediately and contact your health care provider.
- Do not place Coban self-adherent wrap in direct contact with an open wound because it may lead to infection.

- When used as a component in a compression wrap system, it is important to ensure adequate arterial blood flow to avoid injury secondary to decreased circulation. Coban self-adherent wrap should be used as a component of a compression wrap system only under the supervision of a wound care specialist.
