The McKesson Silver (Ag) Moisture Wicking Fabric is specifically designed to manage moisture and odor in skin folds and other skin-to-skin contact areas. The fabric, a knitted polyester textile dressing with silver complex, provides effective antimicrobial action for up to five days depending on fabric soiling and moisture level. It wicks and moves moisture away from the skin, keeping it dry and providing a friction-free surface. McKesson moisture wicking wound dressing has a 2-year shelf life and is available in sheet and roll formats.

How to use Moisture Wicking Wound Dressing?

Site Preparation

  • Wash skin gently. Pat dry, do not rub (Fig. 1).

Dressing Preparation

  • Cut the appropriate size of Moisture Wicking Fabric with Silver (Ag) for the affected area with clean scissors, allowing a minimum of 2 inches of the fabric exposed outside the skin fold for moisture evaporation (Fig. 2).

Dressing Application

  • Lay a single layer of fabric in the skin fold, placing one edge of the fabric in to the base of the fold (Fig. 3). Either side of the fabric can be applied in the skin fold. Gently smooth the rest of the fabric over the skin, keeping it flat. Leave at least 2 inches of fabric exposed outside the skin fold (Fig. 4).
  • Secure the fabric in one or more of the following ways: with the skin fold, with a small amount of medical tape, and/or tucking under clothing. Ensure the applied fabric is not constricting the affected area.

Dressing Change and Removal

  • Each piece of McKesson Moisture Wicking Fabric with Silver (Ag) may be used up to a maximum of 5 days, depending on fabric soiling, odor, amount of moisture and general skin condition.
  • Remove the fabric before bathing/showering and reapply when finished. 3. When removing the fabric from skin folds, gently separate the skin fold and lift the fabric away (Fig. 5)
