How to Use Red Dot ECG Resting Electrode?

• Before Electrode Application:
  - Select and prepare an electrode site according to your healthcare facility’s protocol for resting EKG monitoring
  -  The electrode site should be clean, dry, and free of skin oil or lotion before the application of the electrode to allow optimal electrode adhesion to the skin. Application sites with heavy or curly hair that cannot be parted should be clipped
  -  For best trace quality, skin abrasion should be part of the skin preparation. Use 3M™ Red Dot™ Trace Prep as part of the skin preparation
• Electrode Application
  -  Remove the electrode from the liner. Apply to skin at the standard placement site
  - With tabs pointing toward the patient’s waist, firmly press electrodes to assure uniform contact
  -  For difficult areas such as hairy sites or contours (chest), use more downward pressure to increase adhesion
  -  Place all electrodes on the patient before any clips are connected
  -  A recommended placement order is limb lead sites, followed by chest lead sites
• Leadwire/Clip Connection
  -  Attach the clip‑on connector to the tab portion of the electrode without clipping into the adhesive
  -  Clip electrodes in the order of electrode application, limb leads first, and then chest leads
  -  Ensure that the metal of the clip is in contact with the conductor side (underside) of the electrode tab
  -  Avoid lead wire tension on the electrode tab. Position cable yoke to provide adequate lead wire slack. Rotate the clip/adapter on the lead wire terminal pin to reduce tension
