Features of Drive Medical Medneb Compressor Nebulizer Disposable Neb Kit MQ5600

  • Compact, desktop unit
  • Piston driven system
  • Delivers medications to the bronchial passages in an aerosol form
  • Perfect for medicating patients who resist medicines or cannot take them due to any reasons
  • The compressor is used in conjunction with a jet (pneumatic) nebulizer to convert certain inhalable drugs into an aerosol form for inhalation by a patient

How does the Drive MEDNEB Compressor Nebulizer work?

  • The majority of medications designed for compressor nebulizer use are in liquid form.
  • The nebulizer's "cup" is filled with this liquid medication.
  • Flexible tubing connects the compressor to the nebulizer, and the compressor produces a particular air pressure and flow that, in a sense, "drives" the nebulizer.
  • The compressor's compressed air starts the nebulizer's capacity to transform the liquid medication into an extremely thin mist.
  • The aerosol cloud-like mist is then expelled from the nebulizer and inhaled into the lungs, where the body quickly absorbs it.

How to clean MEDNEB Compressor Nebulizer?

  • All parts of the nebulizer, except the tubing, should be cleaned.
  • With the power switch in the “ Off” position, unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Disconnect the tubing from the air-inlet connector and set it aside.
  • Disassemble the mouthpiece or mask from the cap. Open the nebulizer by turning the cap counterclockwise and remove the baffle.
  • Wash all items, except tubing, in a hot water/dishwashing detergent solution. Rinse under hot tap water for 30 seconds to remove detergent residue. Allow to air dry.
  • For reusable nebulizers only, it can be cleaned daily in a dishwasher using the top shelf or by following the above cleaning procedure.

Disinfect Daily

  1. Using a clean container or bowl, soak items in three parts hot water to one part white vinegar for 30 minutes OR use a medical bacterial-germicidal disinfectant available through your provider. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
  2. With clean hands, remove items from the disinfectant solution, rinse under hot tap water, and air dry on a clean paper towel. Store in a zip-lock bag.
  3. Keep the outer surface of the tubing dust-free by wiping regularly. Nebulizer tubing does not have to be washed because only filtered air passes through it.

  • The Drive Disposable Nebulizer will last at least 15 days and possibly longer, depending on usage. Proper cleaning will also help extend the life of the nebulizer.
  • Because it is disposable, we recommend that an extra nebulizer be kept on hand at all times.
  • The Drive Reusable Nebulizer is dishwasher safe and may be cleaned and reused for up to one year.

Compressor Cleaning:

  1. With the power switch in the “Off ” position, unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Wipe outside the compressor cabinet with a clean damp cloth every few days to keep dust-free.

Filter Change:

  1. Filter should be changed every 6 months or sooner if the filter discolors.
  2. Remove the filter by grasping it firmly and pulling it out of the unit. Discard the old filter.
  3. Replace with a new Drive filter. Additional filters should be purchased from your Drive provider.
  4. Push the new filter into position
Note: Do not reuse or wash the filter or substitute any other material such as cotton for a Drive air-inlet filter. It will result in compressor damage.
