Biatain Ag Non-Adhesive Foam Dressing Features

  • Unique 3D foam structure for superior absorption: When in contact with exudate the unique 3D foam structure of Biatain Ag Non-Adhesive conforms closely to the wound bed for superior absorption – even under compression
  • Designed to prevent infection: The sustained silver release profile ensures a homogenous distribution of silver ions providing a continuous anti-bacterial effect during entire wear time
  • Patented with a silver complex with broad anti-bacteria profile: Independent studies have proven that Biatain Ag is effective on bacteria commonly found in infected non-healing wounds. Clinical studies have shown that infected wounds heal faster with Biatain Ag than with other wounds dressings, including other anti-bacterial dressings.
  • Continuous anti-bacterial effect during entire wear time: Due to the sustained silver release profile there is a continuous anti-bacterial effect during entire wear time.
  • Mode of action: In the presence of exudate silver is continuously released into the wound bed for up to 7 days.
  • Composition: Biatain Ag Non-Adhesive is a soft and flexible absorbent polyurethane foam that is patented with a silver complex homogeneously dispersed throughout the foam matrix.

Biatain Ag Non-Adhesive Foam Dressing Use

Directions for Using Biatain Foam Dressing:

  • Rinse the wound according to clinical practice. To optimize the use of the dressing, select a dressing that overlaps the wound edge by a minimum of two centimeters
  • Must be applied with the plain (non-printed) side to the wound
  • Use the handles to ensure aseptic application. Remove the center protective film. The dressing is shaped like an arrow. Fold the dressing at 90° angle between the arrow head and arrow tail. Let the arrow point away from the heel tip and fix the arrow tail. Secondly, fix the arrow head. Remove the handles one by one and fix the sides carefully, so the foam parts touch or overlap.
  • Use the handles to ensure aseptic application. Remove the protective film. Place the adhesive sides to the wound. Remove the handles
  • It should be changed when clinically indicated or when visible signs of exudate approach the edge of the dressing. Depending upon the condition of the wound the dressings may be left in place for up to 7 days
  • The semi-permeable top film is shower proof and provides a barrier function to bacteria
  • If the wound appears to show signs of deterioration please consult your specialist

Usage of Biatain Ag Non-Adhesive Dressing:

  • Ag Non-Adhesive can be used for a wide range of exuding wounds with delayed healing due to bacteria, or where there is a risk of infection, including:

How long can you let a dressing stay in an infected wound? We were told to let it stay for two days before changing it? The wound is a stage four and has a foul odor.
