Cardinal Health Four Layer Compression Bandage System is a multi-layer compression therapy system for venous leg ulcers and associated disorders. It is recommended for patients with an Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) greater than 0.8 and compression therapy feasible. The system helps to keep the compression high, facilitates the upward flow of blood and generates more pressure at the ankle and then diminishes to the calf. All four of the bandages are unstretched, self-adhesive and have a stretch to them, which makes them easy to apply. Bandage could be worn for up to 7 days and is not containing natural rubber latex.

Contraindications

Compression bandaging system should not be used on patients with an Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) of less than 0.8. An ABI of less than 0.8 may mean that the patient has arterial insufficiency and that the ulcer may not be simply a venostasis ulcer. Compression bandaging of a leg which already has a partially blocked blood supply could completely stop the flow of blood into the leg and lead to the death of the skin and muscle of the leg. Death of the muscle and skin of the leg could lead to further complications and possibly amputation of the leg.
