3M Medipore Pad Adhesive Wound Dressing Features

  • Enhances patient comfort: 3M Medipore Pad features a non-adhering pad that does not stick to the wound surface. It is soft, and breathable and reduces disruption of the healing tissues on removal.
  • Gentle to the skin: This Composite Dressing provides excellent adhesion but is gentle to the skin. Contains no natural rubber latex.
  • Helps support healing: Absorbent pad lets the skin breathe for faster healing. It protects the wound and absorbs drainage. Medipore dressing reduces the potential for maceration around the wound edges.

What to buy with 3M Medipore Pad

How to apply Medipore Plus Pad Dressing?

Prior Application Instructions:

  • Prepare the site for catheter insertion or wound dressing in accordance with standard hospital protocol
  • Clipping off excess hair at the site may be necessary to ensure the best Medipore dressing adhesion
  • Shaving is not recommended
  • Allow all prep liquids to dry completely before dressing application

Directions for Use:

  1. Open the package and remove 3M Medipore +Pad Soft Cloth Adhesive Wound Dressing.
  2. Peel the paper liner from the dressing, exposing the adhesive surface.
  3. Position the dressing over the wound site or the catheter insertion site and apply the dressing.
  4. Smooth down the dressing edges. Seal securely around the catheter or wound site. Firmly smooth adhesive border to the skin.
  5. When exudate penetrates through the soft cloth backing, change the dressing.
  6. To remove the 3M Medipore Pad, gently grasp the edge and slowly peel the dressing from the skin in the direction of hair growth.

  • Medipore +Pad adhesive wound dressing should not be used to replace sutures or other primary wound closure methods.
  • The dressing should be changed if not intact. An intact dressing is one that has been properly applied to achieve and maintain good adhesion, at least around the total periphery of the dressing. To attain the best results, choose the Medipore dressing size such that it has a margin that adheres to dry, healthy skin around the wound site.
  • The site should be observed frequently for signs of infection. Infection may be signaled by pain, fever, swelling, redness, or an unusual odor or discharge. In such cases remove the dressing and take standard precautions.

  • Before applying the dressing, hemostasis of the catheter site or wound should be achieved
  • The skin should be dry and free of detergent residue to ensure good adhesion
  • If tension is applied, it may result in skin trauma
