What is gauze used for?

Medical gauze comes in various forms, such as pads, rolls, and sponges, and is used for general cleaning, debriding, prepping, dressings, and packing wounds. It is also often used as a temporary absorbent dressing over wounds. 

• These are often sold in two variations, sterile gauze and non-sterile gauze. These have an open wave design that aids in removing dead tissue from the wound surface. Applying the medical gauze

To apply the gauze - 

1. Clean the wound area and let it dry.
2. Apply the gauze gently to the wound bed.
3. Keep it loose to allow the wound to breathe.
4. Change the pads every day depending on the amount of exudate.
