Smiths Medical Portex Decannulation Cap is needed to ease a patient off a ventilator. It is simply placed over the end of the trach cannula, so the flow of air out of the tracheostomy tube will be blocked and the patient can breathe unassisted. These small caps fit the standard 15mm ISO termination.
