How to apply Smith & Nephew Allevyn Tracheostomy Dressing?

• Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures
• Prepare and clean the skin surrounding the tracheostomy tube by removing excess moisture
• Fit the Allevyn dressing around the stoma or tracheostomy tube
• Apply the white, patterned surface of the dressing toward the patients neck
• If required, the dressing may be cut to shape
• Additional fixation, such as Opsite Flexigrid Transparent Film Dressing or Hypafix Non-Woven Adhesive Dressing Sheet may be used to secure the dressing
• During the early stages of treatment, the tracheostomy site should be inspected frequently
• Allevyn Tracheostomy Non-Adhesive Apertured Hydrocellular dressings can be left in place undisturbed for up to 7 days, or until exudate is visible and approaches 3/4" from the edge of the dressing

• Remove the retention dressing or bandage and lift the dressing away from the wound
