What is Considered a Low Blood Pressure Range?
Blood pressure is measured using two numbers, systolic pressure (the top number) and diastolic pressure (the bottom number). A normal blood pressure reading is typically around 120/80 mm Hg (millimeters of mercury) or lower. However, blood pressure can vary depending on various factors such as age, gender, health conditions, and medications.
Low blood pressure, also known as hypotension, is generally defined as a systolic pressure consistently below 90 mm Hg or a diastolic pressure consistently below 60 mm Hg. However, the definition of low blood pressure may vary depending on the individual's overall health and medical history.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much time will it take to transfer the readings?
Ans. Readings are transferred to the app within 5 to 15 seconds, depending on the data to be transferred. However, it can take up to a minute for an error message to be displayed if the manual transfer is unsuccessful. You will not see any error for auto-sync.
Why are my blood pressure readings sometimes different?
Ans. Your blood pressure changes constantly based on your daily activities and time of day. Because of this, some fluctuations can be expected. That's why it is important to use averages over time to compare readings. Because each person is different, it is important to consult with your physician about what your numbers mean to you.
Does the size of the cuff matter?
Ans. Yes, it is very important to use the appropriate size cuff for your arm in order to get accurate measurement results when using your home blood pressure monitor. If you use the wrong-sized cuff, you will likely experience inaccurate readings, inconsistent readings, and error messages from the device.
What is the OMRON Connect US/CAN/EMEA mobile app?
Ans. A mobile app (or application) is software designed to run on your smartphone or tablet. The OMRON connect US/CAN/EMEA mobile app lets you wirelessly transfer data from your blood pressure monitor to your smartphone or hand-held device and upload your readings to the app.
Why could my physician's reading be different than my readings taken at home?
Ans. Having your blood pressure measured by a healthcare professional in a physician's office can cause nervousness and may result in an elevated reading. Because these readings can vary considerably, you should take your blood pressure on a regular basis at home and share your results with your healthcare provider.
