1. Contact End: Insert into Test Port with contact blocks facing up.
2. Sample Tip: Bring Tip of test strip to top of sample drop (blood or control solution) after Drop Symbol appears in the Display

Note: Insert test strip into meter before touching Sample Tip to blood or control solution drop.

 

Sample Placement

• Allow sample drop to be drawn into Sample Tip until testing begins (meter beeps and dashes move across Display).
• Do not smear or scrape drop with test strip.
• Do not apply more sample to test strip after testing begins.
• Do not apply blood or control solution to top of test strip. Do not insert Sample Tip with sample into Test Port. May damage meter.

 

How do Diabetes Test Strips work?

• When a drop of blood is put on the test strip, glucose in the blood reacts with glucose oxidase to produce gluconic acid.
• A current is transferred by the meter to the other end of the test strip.
• Electric terminals on the glucose monitoring strips allow the meter to calculate the current between the terminals.
• Current between the terminals is changed according to the level of gluconic acid produced.
• Then an algorithm is used by the blood glucose meter to calculate the blood glucose level on the basis of the difference in current.

How to use True Metrix Test Strips?

• Wash your hands with soap and warm water, and dry them thoroughly.
• Insert a test strip into the meter according to the instructions provided with the meter.
• Using a lancet device, prick your finger and apply a small drop of blood to the end of the test strip.
• Wait for the meter to display your blood glucose level. The result is typically displayed within 4 seconds.
• Remove the test strip from the meter and discard it in a safe manner.
• Record your blood glucose level in a log book or on your blood glucose monitoring device.
• Wash your hands again with soap and warm water.
