User Guides

Frequently Bought Together

How to use Mckesson Self Seal Sterilization Pouches?

  1. Insert item(s) and a chemical indicator strip into the open end of the sterilization pouch
  2. Peel off paper strip located above perforation to expose adhesive and fold along perforation
  3. Press firmly to seal the paper to the plastic making certain that the seal is secure by running fingers back and forth over the entire sealing area
  4. Place the pouch in the sterilizer according to the sterilizer manufacturer’s instructions
  5. After sterilization, inspect the pouch to confirm the indicators have changed to the appropriate color and that the pouch is dry
  6. Store processed pouches at room temperature in a clean, dry location. The shelf life of a properly processed pouch is event related and dependent upon proper handling and storage. Do not use pouches that become wet, damaged or opened
  7. To open, pull apart the end seals at the thumb notch and then grasp the film with one hand and the paper with the other hand. Using a knuckle roll, carefully open the pouch by peeling down until the item(s) can be aseptically retrieved
SPECIAL NOTE: For additional sterility assurance, a biological indicator (spore test) should be routinely used to verify sterilizer performance.
