Test procedure Using True Metrix Pro Strips

1. Check the Expiration Dates on the control solution bottle and test strip vial label. Discard control solution if 3 months past the written opened date or past printed label Expiration Date, whichever comes first.
2. Use a new control solution and/or test strips if either date has passed Allow test strips, meter, and control solution to sit at room temperature for at least 10 minutes before testing.
3. If opening the control solution bottle for the first time, write the date opened on the bottle With the cap on, gently swirl or invert the control solution bottle a few times DO NOT SHAKE.
4. Remove the test strip from the vial and recap immediately. Insert the test strip into the meter to turn the meter on.
5. Remove the bottle cap. Turn the control solution bottle upside down. Squeeze one drop of the control solution onto a clean tissue.
6. Wipe off the bottle tip. Discard used tissue Gently squeeze another drop of control solution onto a small piece of unused aluminum foil or clear plastic wrap.
7. With the test strip in the meter, touch the Sample Tip of the test strip to the top of a drop of the control solution. Allow the drop to be drawn into the test strip.
8. Remove the test strip from the drop when the meter begins testing
9. Compare the result from the meter to the control test range printed on the test strip vial label for the level of control solution tested
10. Press the Strip Release button on the meter to remove the test strip from the meter and discard it in an appropriate container
11. With a clean tissue, wipe the tip of the control solution bottle before recapping

Expected Result

• Control results must be within the result range printed on the test strip vial label. 

Troubleshooting tips:

• If a control test result is outside the control range, do not use test strips or meters for blood glucose testing
• Check to see if the control or test strips have expired. Discard expired test strips and control. An open new bottle of control and/or vial of test strips. Repeat test.

Storage and handling:

• The control solution must be stored upright, tightly sealed, at a temperature of 36°-86°F (2°-30°C)
• DO NOT FREEZE
• Write the date first opened on the bottleDiscard bottle after the Expiration Date printed on the bottle label or 3 months after the date written on the bottle, whichever comes first
• Discard any bottle that appears to be cracked or leaking
