How to Use Extrication Collar?

• Size:
  - Position the lowest finger on the sizing line
  - Select the size closest to the height of the fingers
  - Position the collar with the selected size
  - Press the lock into the collar until secured
  - Verify by attempting to readjust
• Application:
  Supine position:
  - Maintain neutral alignment
  - Select appropriate size
  - Slide collar under patients neck
  Seated Position:
  - Maintain neutral alignment
  - Select appropriate size
  - Slide collar behind patients neck
  - Position chin support
  Secure Collar:
  - Position chin support
  - Tighten collar and attach VELCROƒÆ’¢‚¬Å¡ƒ€š‚® brand strap
• Precautions:
  - Do not rely solely on extrication collar for sufficient immobilization
  - Do not use improperly sized collars
  - Always follow local EMS authority directions.
