What to buy with Hydrofiber Sterile Wound Dressing?
What is Hydrofiber Technology?
Hydrofiber Technology is a patented technology in which fibres of high-quality cellulose are carboxymethylated altering its structure to allow better absorbency and retention of fluid. When it is exposed to fluid, the fibres swell to form a clear, soft, cohesive gel structure that closely conforms to the wound bed. In addition, the gelling action prevents lateral spread of fluid through the dressing to reduce the risk of maceration and promote a moist wound healing environment
Locks Exudate & Traps Bacteria
- Helps protect peri-wound skin and reduce maceration
- May help to minimize wound and cross-infection during removal
Micro-Contours to Wound Bed
- Minimizes “dead space” where bacteria can grow
- Maintains moisture balance in the wound bed
Responds to wound fluid levels
- Forms a cohesive gel when in contact with exudates
- Provides rapid and sustained antimicrobial activity on demand (dressings with ionic silver)
Aquaseal Ribbon Dressing Applications
- Sinus tracts (post-procedure)
- Suture lines
- Fingers and toes of paediatric patients (burns, abrasions)
- Orthopaedic pin insertion sites
- Tube insertion site (g-tube, percutaneous endoscopic gastronomy)
- Finger or toe degloving
- Circumcision sites
Caution:
- Use under the supervision of a healthcare professional
How to use ConvaTec Aquacel Sterile Wound Dressing?
- Use a cleansing solution on the wound surface and the surrounding skin, and dry the skin thoroughly
- Loosely pack ribbon or pad into deep wounds to about 80% of the depth of the wound to accommodate swelling of the dressing
- Leave a small overhang (at least 2.5 cm or 1 inch) to facilitate removal
- Excess dressing can be cut to size without shedding fibers
- Cover the ribbon or pad with a moisture-retentive dressing
- Secure the dressing with hypoallergenic tape, if necessary
How to Remove the Aquacel dressing?
-
Grasp one corner of the dressing and carefully lift away from wound
-
In the unlikely event of adhesion to the wound bed, the dressing can be easily removed by soaking
