ConvaTec Aquacel Ag Advantage Ribbon Wound Dressing features two powerful technologies working synergistically to manage the key local barriers to wound healing - exudate, infection, and bioburden. It helps wound healing by absorbing the wound fluid and creating a soft gel, maintaining a moist wound environment and helping reduce pain associated with dressing changes, locking in exudate and bacteria to help minimize the harmful effects of maceration and cross infection, micro-contours to the wound bed, eliminating dead space where bacteria can grow. Advantage dressings are antimicrobial primary dressings for use in acute and hard-to-heal wounds that are infected or at risk of infection with varying exudate levels.

Why choose Aquacel Ag Advantage Wound Dressing?

Specifically developed to manage biofilm within the dressing, More than silver technology is a unique formulation that contains three components.
They synergistically work together to enhance the antimicrobial efficacy of ionic silver within the dressing resulting in:

  • Faster reduction of bacteria
  • Breoad spectrum efficacy
  • Sustained antimicrobial activity

Why Biofilm is an enemy worth targeting?

Biofilm is present in 78% of hard-to-heal wounds

  • Biofilm is everywhere
  • In healthcare, biofilm accounts for more than 8o% of all microbial infections! In nature, 99% of bacteria exist in biofilm
  • Difficult to eradicate
  • Biofilm is difficult to completely remove, even with debridement. It reforms quickly and is a precursor to infection. It is tolerant to antiseptics and antibiotics and able to evade the body's immune response
  • Delays wound healing
  • Biofilm creates a sustained but ineffective inflammatory response It also impairs granulation tissue formation and epithelialization

What to buy with Aquacel Ag Absorbent Dressings

How do you use Aquacel AG Advantage?

  • Cleanse the wound area with an appropriate wound cleanser.
  • Aquacel Advantage enhanced Hydrofiber dressing should overlap at least 1cm (1/2") onto the skin surrounding the wound.
  • When using Aquacel Ag advantage wound dressing in deep wounds, only fill the wound up to 80%, as the dressing will expand to fill the wound space in contact with wound fluid.
  • This primary dressing should be used with a secondary cover dressing. Apply the dressing to the wound and cover it with a moisture-retentive dressing, gauze, or other appropriate dressing. See individual cover dressing package inserts for complete instructions for use.
  • All wounds should be inspected frequently. Remove the Aquacel Ag Advantage with silver and strengthening fiber when clinically indicated (i.e., leakage, excessive bleeding, increased pain) or after a maximum of seven days.
