How to use Intensity 10 TENS Device?

1. Insert Battery:
Press the arrow and slide the battery compartment cover open. Insert 9V battery, matching the + and – ends to those in the unit. The included AC adapter may also be used as a power source.

 

2. Connect Electrodes to Lead Wires:
Firmly insert the red or black end of the lead wire pin (it doesn’t matter which one) into the electrode connectors.

 

3. Connect Lead Wires to top of Device:
This unit operates with one or two sets of electrodes. When using one set, plug lead wire into Channel 1 on top of the unit. Use Channel 2 to operate a second set if directed by your healthcare provider.

 

4. Place Electrode on Skin:
Remove electrodes from protective backing. Keep backing to store electrodes after use properly. Apply electrodes to the exact site indicated by your doctor or therapist. Make sure the skin at the application site is clean and dry.

 

5. Turn Device On:
Press the button in the center of the unit to turn it ON. Check that electrodes are securely placed on the skin before activating device.

 

6. Select Therapeutic Part Program:
Press the S button. Notice the flashing icon. Continue to press the S button until you reach the desired body part.

 

7. Select Desired Treatment Time:
Press the T button to select one of four treatment times: 15 min, 30 min, 60 min and C for continuous. Press the T button until you reach the time prescribed by your therapist or doctor.

 

8. Adjust Channel Intensity:
Press the intensity control buttons for Channel 1 s to increase the intensity t to decrease the intensity until you reach the setting recommended by your physician or therapist. Repeat for Channel 2 if both channels are being used. If stimulation is or becomes uncomfortable, reduce intensity and consult your physician if problems persist.

 

Safety features of Intensity 10 Tens Unit:

• The Safety Lock Feature automatically locks the settings if there are no changes in the panel for 30 seconds.
• This feature prevents accidental changes to your settings.
• Press the down arrow on Turn off the device by pressing and holding the power on/off button. (Unlocked device first.)
• The device will automatically power off after 3 minutes of inactivity in the panel.
• Low battery indicator signals when the battery is low.
• Replace the battery when stimulation feels weaker.

How to clean Intensity Tens Devices?

1. Remove the battery from the device before you clean the device.
2. Clean the device after use with a soft, slightly moistened cloth. You can moisten the cloth with mild soapy water for hard-to-clean situations.
3. Do not use any chemical cleaners or abrasive agents for cleaning.

Tips for Skin Care

• Wash the area of the skin you will be placing the electrodes on with soap. Rinse thoroughly and dry the area completely before and after placing electrodes.
• Excess hair may be clipped with scissors; do not shave the stimulation area.
• Wipe the area with the skin preparation your clinician has recommended. Let this dry. Apply electrodes as directed.
• Many skin problems arise from the “pulling stress” from adhesive patches that are excessively stretched across the skin during application. To prevent this, apply electrodes from the center outward; avoid stretching over the skin.
• To minimize “pulling stress,” tape extra lengths of lead wires to the skin in a loop to prevent tugging on electrodes.
• When removing electrodes, always remove them by pulling them in the direction of hair growth.
• It may be helpful to rub skin lotion on the electrode placement area during treatment downtime when you are not wearing electrodes.
• Never apply electrodes over irritated or broken skin.

Warnings:

• This device should be used only under the continued supervision of a licensed physician or practitioner.
• The long-term effects of chronic electrical stimulation are unknown. Electrical stimulation devices do not have any curative value.
• TENS is a symptomatic treatment that suppresses the sensation of pain, which would otherwise serve as a protective mechanism.
• Safety has not been established for the use of therapeutic electrical stimulation during pregnancy. Do not use during pregnancy unless directed by your physician.
• Electrical stimulation is not effective for pain of central origin, such as a headache.
• Electrical monitoring equipment (such as ECG monitors and ECG alarms) may not operate properly when electrical stimulation is in use.
• Stimulation should not be applied over the carotid sinus nerves, particularly in patients with a known sensitivity to the carotid sinus reflex.
• Stimulation should not be applied over the neck or mouth. Severe spasms of the laryngeal and pharyngeal muscles may occur, and the contraction may be strong enough to close the airway or cause difficulty in breathing.
• Stimulation should not be applied transthoracically. The introduction of electrical current into the heart may cause cardiac arrhythmias.
• Stimulation should not take place while the user is connected.
