Calcium alginate fibres react with wound exudate or blood to form a hydrophilic gel that creates a moist wound environment; superior absorption extends wear time to up to 7 days, and dressing changes are simple without disturbing granulating tissue.

Instructions for Use of CellEra Alginate Dressing

  1. Clean the wound with sterile physiological saline using existing clinical protocol. Dry the surrounding skin gently
  2. Choose the right size dressing to cover the wound area
  3. Cover and secure the Vitale Silver Calcium Alginate Dressing with a secondary dressing
  4. Dressing change frequency will depend on patient condition and the level of exudates.
  5. Initially it may be necessary to change the dressing every 24 hours. When the exudates reduce, the frequency may decrease
  6. Gently remove the secondary dressing.
  7. If the wound appears dry, saturate the dressing with sterile saline prior to removal

  • Ideal for draining wounds, as they reduce the risk of maceration to surrounding skin
  • Sterilized by electron beam sterilization and must not be resterilized
  • Calcium Alginate fibers are impregnated with silver, providing antimicrobial activity to help prevent sepsis.
