FAQ on 3M Tegaderm Transparent Film Roll from Solventum
How long does the 3M Tegaderm Transparent Film Roll last?
The dressing can be worn for up to a week (7 days). Change when the dressing becomes loose or soiled or when wound reassessment is required. For peripheral IV catheters, follow your institution's protocol—transparent film dressings can safely remain in place for the duration of catheter insertion without increasing the risk for thrombophlebitis.
Can you shower or bathe with Tegaderm Film Roll in place?
Yes. The 3M Tegaderm Transparent Film Roll from Solventum (formerly 3M) is fully waterproof, allowing patients to shower, bathe, and swim while the dressing remains in place.
What is the difference between Tegaderm film roll and individual Tegaderm dressings?
The film roll is a non-sterile roll format that can be cut to any length and shape—making it far more cost-effective per square inch than individual pre-cut sterile dressings. It is ideal for securing IV tubing, covering periwound skin, protecting radiation skin markings, and any application requiring custom sizing. Pre-cut sterile Tegaderm dressings are preferred for sterile primary dressing applications over open wounds.
Is 3M Tegaderm Film Roll the same as Solventum Tegaderm?
Yes. In 2024, 3M Health Care became an independent company called Solventum. Solventum (formerly 3M Health Care) now manufactures all Tegaderm products.Â
