  - The FSC certified Plantation Teak comes from trees harvested from an actual plantation of younger Teak trees. Since we only use the heartwood of the tree, it has all the same qualities of old growth Burmese Teak but it is a little lighter in color and requires a little more maintenance.

• Benefits of Using Teak Wood
  - Teak Wood is the perfect choice for a product that will be in a wet atmosphere.
  - First, Teak trees absorb silica from the sandy soil that they grow in. This silica makes the wood naturally slip-resistant. After being sanded, the wood for the Teak Bench is smooth and gentle, especially to bare skin.
  - The wood used for the Teak Bench is taken from the heartwood of the Teak tree. This wood is not only the hardest and most durable on the tree, but the natural colors are vivid and beautiful with unique grain textures.
  - The heartwood also produces an oil that gives a natural shine to the wood without any varnish. The oil coating the wood also guards against water which reduces decay, rot, bacteria, and mold that could occur from a wet atmosphere, making the perfect bench for a bathroom setting.

• Installation and Load Bearing:
  - All shower seat must be installed using suitable fasteners and sufficient in-wall backing materials.
  - ADA mounting height for lowered seat is 17" (432mm) to 19" (482mm)
  - When properly installed, all shower seats have been designed and manufactured to support loads exceeding the downward pull requirements for Federal specifications FHA, VA, HUD, hospital codes, and private construction.
  - The actual "in use" load-bearing capacity of any shower seat, however, will be limited by the strength of its mounting surface and installation hardware.
  - It is recommended that shower seats be installed using 2" minimum thickness "in wall" solid wood blocking material with #10 x 2" stainless steel, Phillips-head, sheet metal screws, or using a wall embedded, minimum 12 ga. (2.8mm) steel anchor plate with #10 x 24 stainless steel machine screws.
  - Under no circumstances should any shower seat be mounted to drywall, sheetrock, plaster, fiberglass, acrylic or other similar "hollow" wall surfaces without appropriate wood or steel backing material.
• Maintenance:
  - Because of all the organic benefits of Teak wood, maintenance is very easy.
  - In some settings, though, a natural build-up of soap or dirt could occur. To remedy this, use a soft-bristled brush, water, and gentle soap mixture to carefully clean the Teak. Then simply rinse and allow to air dry to restore the natural beauty of Teak wood.
