3. Touch thumb tip to index fingertip, making a gentle "O" shape, but be sure your thumb muscles are relaxed and the thumb joints are slightly flexed. Look directly into your palm to be sure your thumb is not too far across your palm or too far out of your palm but in a mid-position.

Push Thumb Brace Care Tips

To ensure proper care of your MetaGrip thumb Brace and to maximize the longevity, watch the care video and read the care instructions below:

  • The Push MetaGrip can be hand washed or machine washed on gentle cycle, cool water with mild detergents. Place the Push MetaGrip in a small mesh bag prior to machine washing. Never place the Push MetaGrip into a clothes dryer or dishwasher.
  • Over-tightening the straps will cause the straps to stretch over time and weaken the hook and loop closure
  • Excessively frequent application and removal of the Push MetaGrip increases strap fatigue
  • Keeping the entire thumb splint clean and free of debris prolongs the life
  • Heavy and/or repeated resistive activities while wearing the Push MetaGrip increases stress on the straps
  • Exposure to harsh chemicals or heavy soil can deteriorate the brace
  • Use latex, rubber, or gardening gloves over the brace during cleaning or gardening

Note: The Push MetaGrip is not intended for all problems of the thumb

CMC Thumb Brace FAQ

How is Push MetaGrip measured?

To determine the correct Push MetaGrip size, measure the circumference of your palm right below the knuckles, and exclude the thumb. It is important to note that the rim indicates hand size and not thumb size. If the measurement taken is around the size breakpoint, you must try both sizes to find the best fit. To accomplish correct fitting, the user is recommended to try on the Push MetaGrip. Professional measurement and fitting by a therapist will help in getting optimal results.

How does a thumb brace work?

Thumb braces are a simple, cost-effective tool for reducing pain, providing support, improving movement, and easing the stress from the joints. Wearing a brace will help eliminate the pain. However, you may need to wear it for long durations and also opt for treatment options such as over-the-counter medications, topical lotions, and rehabilitation therapy to get rid of thumb pain completely.

Should I sleep with thumb brace on?

The thumb brace is safe to wear while sleeping.

Should you wear a splint for trigger thumb?

The Bracelab MetaGrip thumb brace is also worn for the trigger thumb. MetaGrip provides compression support in a neutral position which helps in relieving pressure from the thumb.

Is the Push Thumb Brace washable?

The Push MetaGrip is suitable for hand or machine wash on a gentle cycle, cool water with mild detergents. Place the MetaGrip Brace in a small mesh bag before machine washing. Do not wash the Push Thumb Brace in a dishwasher.

Push Metagrip Brace Sizing Guide

The Push MetaGrip must be correctly SIZED and SQUEEZED to work. To ensure proper sizing, watch the sizing video and read below given instructions:
  • Use a soft measuring tape to measure the circumference of your hand just below the knuckles of all fingers, excluding the thumb. This indicates hand size, but not necessarily thumb size. Please take this into consideration when choosing your MetaGrip size. If your measurement is near the size break point, only trying on both sizes can allow you to determine the best fit.
  • Ideal fitting around the thumb is accomplished by trying on the Push MetaGrip. Professional measurement and fitting by a therapist / physician is suggested for optimal results.
  • Be sure to follow instructions for squeezing metal insert to fit snugly around your thumb.

Question

John Walker     05/26/2021

Can you play golf with the MetaGrip brace?

Answer

Customer Care    05/26/2021

Thank you for reaching out to us. We would like to point out that a few  people have reported no restrictions while playing golf and reportedly have improved. Few have said that they cannot wear the brace for extended periods when playing golf, tennis, or any other sport that requires a strong grip. If you plan to buy the brace, we recommend that you use the 'try-on time' to keep the golf club and practice for 15-30 minutes while wearing it. Please note that the brace is streamlined and designed to fit comfortably under gloves.
