How Does Biofreeze Work?

How Does Biofreeze Work?
Sailaxmi Chennuru

We all experience aches and pains at some point in our lives. When it comes to pain management, topical pain relief creams may ease discomfort with fewer side effects than oral pain relievers. One such topical pain reliever that gets consistently high marks is Biofreeze.

What is Biofreeze?

It is a known fact that ice helps relieve pain and speeds up recovery when applied to the affected area. Biofreeze is a topical analgesic that works similarly to cold therapy, reducing inflammation and improving circulation, but offers more powerful, comfortable, and long-lasting pain relief.

The Biofreeze pain reliever is formulated with menthol to provide temporary cooling relief for muscle and joint pain. It is available in gel, spray, or roll-on, penetrates the skin quickly, and relieves pain naturally. Biofreeze delivers relief from-

How Does Biofreeze Work?

We feel pain because nerve receptors send signals from the point of pain to the spinal cord and then to the brain. Like any other topical pain reliever, Biofreeze pain relief products works by the "pain gate” or “gate control” theory. The "gate" is part of the spinal cord where pain signals travel through or are restricted. If the gate is open, pain signals are transmitted to the brain, and we perceive pain. If the gate is closed, the sensation of pain won't be recognized.

When Biofreeze gel or cream is applied to a painful area, a cold sensation is created, which overrides signals to the brain and reduces pain. In addition, Biofreeze increases blood flow to the infected area, eliminates toxins more efficiently, and delivers oxygen and nutrients to the cells.
