How do Hearing Aids work?

There are three stages in working of hearing aids. Each of them is described below:

  • Stage 1: Just like a normal ear, hearing aids are also designed to receive sounds from the outer world. To achieve that, these hearing assistive devices include microphones as a part of their construction. Once the microphones take sounds, they transform them into vibrations and electrical impulses.
  • Stage 2: At this stage sound signals are too weak to be heard by users. Therefore, these signals are amplified by the amplifiers present in the hearing aids to convert them into audible sound.
  • Stage 3: Final part is usually the speaker, which takes the amplified signals and produces sound. The sound level can be calibrated in many models according to the degree of deafness and specific user requirements.
