How to use Invacare 9000 XT Recliner Wheelchair?

Operating Invacare 9000 XT Recliner:


    Operating Invacare 9000 XT Recliner

  1. Unfold wheelchair.
  2. Attach spreader bar.
  3. Adjust the tightness of the headrest/back upholstery.
  4. Make sure wheelchair is occupied and on a level surface before reclining.
  5. Engage the wheel locks.
  6. Inform the occupant of the wheelchair that the wheelchair is about to be reclined.
  7. Make sure occupant hands and body are clear of all pinch points.
  8. Stand behind the wheelchair and grasp both push handles firmly.
  9. Squeeze release handles.
  10. Slowly pull back on the back assembly while squeezing the release handles.
  11. When the back reaches the desired angle, slowly let go of the release handles.
  12. To return the back to the full upright position, reverse Steps 8-11 keeping in mind proper body mechanics.

  1. Tilt the wheelchair towards you (raising the opposite wheel and caster off the ground/floor).
  2. Place your hand on the top of the seat rail closest to you where the seat upholstery is attached.
  3. Point your fingers and thumb to the inside of the wheelchair.
  4. Press downward on the top of the seat rail until the wheelchair is fully open and the seat rails are fully seated in the H-blocks.
  5. Engage both wheel locks, open the footrest/legrest for clearance and transfer into the wheelchair.

Adjusting Armrest Height:

  1. Unlock the armrest by flipping the height adjustment lever on the top front of the armrest to the up (horizontal) position.
  2. Adjust armrest to one of five positions.
  3. Lock the armrest by pressing the height adjustment lever into the down (vertical) position when the desired armrest height is achieved.
  4. Repeat Steps 1-3 for other armrest.

  1. Remove the front rigging assembly.
  2. Pull the cam lock lever up to unlocked position.
  3. Push in the release buttons and reposition the footplate assembly to the desired height.
  4. Ensure that the release buttons fully protrude from holes on both sides of the front rigging support.
  5. Rotate cam lock lever down to locked position.
  6. Repeat this procedure for the other footplate, if necessary.
  7. Reinstall the swing away front rigging assembly.

Cleaning Metal Surfaces:

  • Hot water and a mild detergent on soft cloth should be used for cleaning metal surfaces
  • Wipe down with damp cloth
  • Dry surface by wiping down with dry cloth
  • Car polish and soft wax can be used to remove abrasions and restore gloss

Wheelchair itself is fine for 92-yr-old woman with dementia, but she continually presses against the footpedals, which break every 2 months or so. she is NOT standing on footpedals, just pressing against them. Is there a heavier-weight legrest with better connection of footpedal available?

  1. Merchandise must be returned within 30 days of the receipt of your order. Returns are not accepted after 30 days.
  2. Items (including parts and accessories) must be returned in new, unused, and resalable condition in its original packaging.
  3. Before returning any product, the buyer must obtain a Return Authorization Number (RA#) from a customer service representative. With your RA# you will receive a prepaid return shipping label.
  4. Orders returned without obtaining an RA# will be entitled to receive only "In-Store Credit" that can be used towards future purchases.
  5. Return orders are subject to a 20% restocking fees.
  6. All custom orders and hygienic items are non-returnable. Refer to the “Non-Returnable Items” section for further details.
  7. Returns will be reviewed and inspected before issuing credit. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for processing. The credit will be applied to your original method of payment.
  8. If the return is the result of a defective product or shipping error, we will refund the entire purchase amount and return shipping costs.

We reserve the right to make adjustments due to errors, changing market conditions, product discontinuation or typographical errors in advertisements. Images on the site may not always reflect the actual product. Footrests or leg-rests are not included with wheelchairs unless specified.

How do I receive a return authorization number?

You can submit a return request by logging into your account. You will receive the Return Authorization Number (RA#) details in the email within 2-3 business days.

  • Click on “return order”
  • Fill out the return form and Submit it

If you do not have an email address, we will make other accommodations for RA# Details. Write the RA# on your label affixed to your package prior to shipment.

How long does it take to receive a refund?

Please allow 3 to 4 weeks to process the returns. Once the item is received, and inspected, your refund will be processed and automatically applied to your credit card or original method of payment.

Is there any Restocking Fees?

  1. 20% restocking fees will be applied.
  2. Outbound shipping cost is non-refundable.
