How to use Drainage bag with Safety Flow Device?

Instructions For Using Bard Urinary Bags:

• To empty the Bard Drainage Bag, hang the bag so that the Outlet Device Arrow is pointing straight down
• To open the device, place the thumb at the top of the device and finger on the green lever
• Lift the lever up, following the arrow, to the open position
• Drain urine
• To close the device, place the thumb on the support below the closed position and finger on the green lever
• Move the lever down, following the arrow, to closed position
• Listen for the click to confirm that the device is closed
• Dispose of the collected urine according to hospital protocol

Urinary Drainage Bag Positioning:

• Keep the Drainage Bag lower than the catheter and the bladder of the patient
• Never allow tubing to loop or kink
• Position the drainage bag at the foot of the bed
• Hold spine and lift meter to facilitate emptying
