More Information

  • Adjust Temperature
Set the temperature according to your physician’s instructions:
    - Unless otherwise directed by your physician, start with the temperature control dial at the coldest setting (pointed left).
    - Wait ten minutes for temperature to stabilize after starting and after each adjustment.
    - Adjust temperature control dial clockwise (warmer) as needed for patient comfort or as directed by your physician.
  • Skin Inspection
    - Inspect the skin under the Polar Pad (by lifting the edge) as prescribed, typically every 1 to 2 hours. Do not use the Polar Care Glacier if dressing, wrapping, bracing, or casting over the Polar Pad prevents skin checks.
    - Stop using and contact your practitioner immediately if you experience any adverse reactions, such as: increased pain, burning, increased swelling, itching, blisters, increased redness, discoloration, welts, other changes in skin appearance, or any other reaction identified by your practitioner.
  • Ending Session
To stop the pump, disconnect electrical power. To disconnect the Polar Pad from the pump hose, depress the two metal tabs on the hose coupling and gently pull apart.

How do I drain the water from the hoses after I recuperate so I can store the machine?

To drain the pad, hold the Cold Therapy Pad upright with the hose pointed toward the ground. Depress the black plunger and allow the water to drain out of the pad.

question image
how do I clean unit when I'm finished using it and want it stored
kathie - 2/22/2017 11:09:57 AM
answer image
To clear the water from the knee pad, disconnect the pad from the long hose.  Hold the pad with the short hose pointing down.  Have someone push up on the black valve at the end of the hose as you gently push the water in the pad down toward the hose. I managed to get 98 percent is the water out and the rest evaporated

After use, empty and dry the unit with a soft cloth. Warm water and mild detergent may be used occasionally to clean the pump and tubes.
Avoid flammables and oxidizers. Do not use in places with flammable vapors or gasses (e.g., flammable anesthetics), high oxygen concentrations, or other oxidizers (e.g., nitrous oxide).
