How to wear Skil-Care Pelvic Restraint?

  1. Before seating the patient in a wheelchair, ensure that both brakes are locked, and both footrests are positioned to the side of the chair. Seat the patient as far back in the wheelchair as possible. Position the chair's front footrests and place the patient's feet on them.
  2. Position Pelvic Holder between the patient's legs, placing the loops at the patient's waist.
  3. Thread the left rear strap through the left front loop. Thread the right rear strap through the right front loop. Pull both straps completely through the loops so that the device fits snugly.
    Note: Straps should not be so tight to interfere with the patient's breathing. You should be able to slide your open hand between the device and the patient.
  4. Wrap the right strap around the right metal bar behind the armrest pad. Repeat on the left side. Bring both straps behind the wheelchair and tie them together in a bow.
