What does MTS Bed Guard Rail Do?

Humans are inclined to move about a lot in their sleep, and because of this, the chances of tumbling out of bed is high. Most of the people have muscle control and special awareness to know the perimeters of our beds so that they can reposition themselves. This tendency decreases with aging. Because of this, seniors and individuals with limited movability face a higher risk of falling from their beds.

The motive of a bed rail is to help an individual re-positioning in bed without having to worry about them falling out and sustaining an injury.

How to install Bed Rails for Dementia Patients?

  1. Remove mattress. Place the assembled security rails on the bed foundation, allowing at least 10" from the top of the bed. For Models 1875M and 5075M the long utility straps should be attached to the "U" tube while, the short utility straps will be attached to the security rail receiving tubes. For Models 1885M and 5085M, long utility straps will be attached to one set of receiving tubes while the short utility straps will be attached to the receiving tubes on the oppo-site side of the bed.
  2. Place the mattress back on the bed foundation. Take the long utility straps and wrap over the top of the mattress and secure to the short utility straps on the opposite side of the bed. Tighten the straps to prevent the rails from shifting.
  3. With the Security Rails in place now put the top sheet on the mattress covering the utility straps. The Security Bed Rails will now raise and lower with the electric style bed providing a safe and secure bed environment.

Precautions to take while using MTS Side Rails for Beds

It is not meant to be used primarily to protect the person suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s who tend to wander at night. These folks may very well climb right over the rail in an attempt to get out of bed, which can cause serious bodily injury.

Another concern is that bed rails have spaces between the bars, or between rails and the mattress. The user's elbows or arms can be easily caught in spaces between bed rails. As for particular reason bed rail barriers are used to block the rail openings.
