TED Knee High Anti-Embolism Stockings promote the return of venous blood from the feet and legs to prevent blood clots in the legs. It offers an elastomer system that ensures optimum velocity of blood flow by providing compression at the ankle and gradually decreasing compression up to the calf. Mild compression of high TEDs helps veins and lymphatic vessels to increase blood flow towards the heart and lymphatic fluid through its normal circulation.

What is the difference between TED Stockings and Compression Stockings?
TED hose, or Thrombo-Embolic Deterrent Hose, and compression socks are prescribed for two different types of patients -
TED Hose
- TED Hose is prescribed to patients who are non-ambulatory, meaning they are not up and moving around on their own
- Risk of a blood clot developing in the legs of these people is a main concern for health care providers, as clots can break free and travel through the bloodstream to the lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism
- TED hose reduces the risk by administering pressure on the lower part of the leg and feet, with the most compression occurring at the calf muscle
- Patients may wear TED hose for up to three weeks, at which time they are mobile once again or have been prescribed a different treatment to reduce the risk of blood clots
Compression Socks
- Compression socks are best suited to patients who are able to move around
- Generally they can be used by patients with circulatory problems such as venous insufficiency, lymphedema and varicose veins
- Compression socks help keep blood from pooling in the ankles, where the pressure is the greatest
- Can be worn for up to six months or more
