5 Best Golfer's Elbow Braces

5 Best Golfer's Elbow Braces
Linda Guerrera

Golfer's elbow is a common injury caused by overusing the tendons of the elbow. Also known as medial epicondylitis, Golfer's elbow can happen to anyone who repeatedly uses their wrist and fingers and the muscles that control these movements.

Golfer's elbow affects the tendons on the inside of the elbow and is similar to tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), which affects the tendons on the outside of the elbow. Golfer's elbow is not exclusive to golfers. Other activities like tennis, weightlifting, painting, and carpentry, can also cause this condition.

Symptoms of Golfer's Elbow

The primary symptom of a golfer's elbow is pain on the inner side of the elbow, near the bony bump, which is known as the medial epicondyle. The pain can also travel down the forearm.

Golfer's elbow is typically caused by repetitive motion of the forearm muscles and tendons that attach to the medial epicondyle. Other symptoms can include stiffness or weakness in the arm or elbow and pain that gets worse with gripping objects. If you suspect you have Golfer's elbow, see your doctor for a proper diagnosis. Imaging may be necessary to rule out other conditions.

Treatment of Golfer's Elbow

Early treatment will prevent the condition from becoming worse and more difficult to manage. It is important to rest the elbow in order for healing to begin. Ice is also recommended, along with physical therapy and anti-inflammatory medications. For severe Golfer's elbow, steroid injections or, in extreme cases, surgery may be necessary.
