Dexcom G6 Receiver FAQs
1. Does the Dexcom G6 use a needle?
The G6 sensor applicator does use a small needle, but it doesn’t stay under the skin while you wear the sensor. While the needle pushes the sensor through your skin and into your interstitial fluid, it immediately retracts into the disposable applicator.
2. Where are Dexcom G6 Sensors worn?
All people with diabetes using the Dexcom G6 can wear sensors on the abdomen. As an alternate site, patients aged two to 17 can wear sensors on the upper buttocks.
3. Is the Dexcom G6 Sensor waterproof?
The Dexcom G6 system’s sensors and transmitters are water-resistant as long as the transmitter is installed properly and can be exposed to water for short periods of time. The receiver is not water-resistant or waterproof.
4. How long do Dexcom G6 Sensors last?
Your sensor should last for ten days. To make it easier to keep your sensor in place, try using certain types of tape, adhesive patches, or liquid adhesives.
