Coloplast's Biatain Ag Foam Dressings are absorbent Foam Dressings Pads. Biatain Ag Dressings are wound dressings with a waterproof film backing that acts as a bacterial barrier. The Foam Dressing is simple to apply and remove. To combat infection, these wound dressings  contain a slow-release silver ion anti-microbial agent. The sterile dressings use a highly absorbent 3-D foam that wicks away wound exudate, promoting healing. The dressings conform to the wound bed, retaining moisture and encouraging faster healing.

What to buy with Coloplast Biatain Ag Foam Dressing

Directions for Using Biatain Foam Dressing

  • Rinse the wound according to clinical practice.
  • To optimize the use of the dressing, select a dressing that overlaps the wound edge by a minimum of two centimeters
  • Must be applied with the plain (non-printed) side to the wound
  • Use the handles to ensure aseptic application. Remove the center protective film. The dressing is shaped like an arrow.
  • Fold the dressing at 90° angle between the arrow head and arrow tail. Let the arrow point away from the heel tip and fix the arrow tail.
  • Secondly, fix the arrow head. Remove the handles one by one and fix the sides carefully, so the foam parts touch or overlap.
  • Use the handles to ensure aseptic application. Remove the protective film. Place the adhesive sides to the wound. Remove the handles
  • It should be changed when clinically indicated or when visible signs of exudate approach the edge of the dressing.
  • Depending upon the condition of the wound the dressings may be left in place for up to 7 days
  • The semi-permeable top film is shower proof and provides a barrier function to bacteria
  • If the wound appears to show signs of deterioration please consult your specialist
