How to use Kaz Warm Steam Vaporizer?

• Always unplug the cord from the electrical socket before removing the steam unit or when not in use. Allow the steam vaporizer to cool completely before touching it.
• Remove the steam unit and fill the water container. Fill the container with tap water until the water level in a bowl reaches the mark. Do not overfill the container.
• For low or moderate mineral content tap water, completely mix with 4 to 5 pinches (1/8 teaspoon) of common table salt. Salt does not affect the purity of the steam.
• Note: Too much salt can cause extreme boiling or a blown fuse.
• Hold down the steam unit for ten seconds to allow water to enter the housing and seat it properly in the water container. If the steam unit floats, the container is overfilled.
• The Kaz vaporizer should always be placed on a firm, flat surface at least four feet away from the bedside and out of the reach of patients and children. Be sure the vaporizer is in a stable position, and the power cord is out of the way to prevent the vaporizer from being upset or tipped over. Protect the floor, rug, or furniture by placing the Kaz vaporizer steamer on a non-metallic, waterproof, heat-resistant surface.
• Caution: Do not direct steam flow directly at the patient, walls, or furniture. You will still obtain the desired level of humidity. Keep out of the reach of children. Steam can cause burns.
• For best results, fill the medication cup on the steam unit (located directly below and in front of the steam outlet) with one tablespoon of Kaz Inhalant. If you use Vicks VapoSteam, follow the directions on the VapoSteam package. Please pay careful attention to the added cleaning directions in the Daily Maintenance and Care and Cleaning sections.
• NOTE: Vicks VapoSteam should be put directly into the vaporizer water container (see VapoSteam package directions); it should not be placed in the medication cup.
• Plug the power cord into 110-120 Volts AC outlet in good condition fused for at least 15 Amps. Do not use extension cords.

Daily Maintenance of Vicks Kaz Humidifier

• Empty any unused water from the water container.
• Rinse the container thoroughly with water, drain, and wipe with a dry, clean cloth.

Weekly Maintenance of Kaz 1 Gallon Vaporizer

• Empty any unused water from the water container. Rinse the container thoroughly with water, drain, and wipe with a dry, clean cloth.
• With the steam unit safely unplugged, soak the steam unit in 3 1/2 inches of white vinegar for 10 minutes.
• Then, with fingers covering the bottom holes of the steam unit, add tap water into a steam outlet. Cover the steam outlet with the finger of the other hand, shake vigorously, then empty the water through the steam outlet.


• Repeat several times until black particles are no longer emitted and the vinegar odor is gone.
• If using Vicks VapoSteam, make sure any residue is cleaned off the steam unit using a mild detergent.
• Be sure that the Steam Outlet, Safety Vents (in the front corners of the night-light lens), and Water Intake Holes in the bottom of the steam unit are open and not clogged. Poke clean with a toothpick.
• Disinfecting the Reservoir: Fill the reservoir with water and add 1 teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water. Swish to wet all inner surfaces. Let stand for 20 minutes. Then empty the reservoir and rinse with tap water until the bleach smell is gone. Dry with a clean cloth.

Cleaning Instructions - 

• Turn off the machine.
• Pour out any water that's left in the tank.
• Wash the tank with water and then dry it.
• Put the tank in white vinegar for 10 minutes.
• Pour regular tap water into the steam part, cover it with your finger, and shake it.
• Do this step a few times until the vinegar smell is gone.
• Rinse the tank with water and a teaspoon of bleach.
• Keep rinsing with plain water until the bleach smell is gone.

End-of-season Maintenance of Kaz Vicks Safety Light Warm Steam Vaporizer

• Follow the Weekly Maintenance procedure at end-of-season or when the vaporizer will not be used for several days.
• Be sure to dry all parts and store them in a cool, dry location. Do not store the unit with water inside.
