Uresil Tru-Close Suction Drainage System - 500mL Capacity

Uresil TRU-CLOSE Drain Bag is intended to be a completely closed system for the drainage of abscesses and other fluids. Uresil drain bag has a closed system design that reduces the possibility of cross-contamination. It is most widely used because it can connect to any Luer-locking drainage catheter. The dual reflux valves of the Tru-Close suction drainage system keep liquids and air from backing up into the wound drain or catheter.

Tru-Close Drain Bag Highlights

  • Latex-free
  • Dual anti-reflux valves
  • With or without empty port
  • Reduces the chance of cross-contamination

Uresil Tru-Close Suction Drainage System Features

  • Dual anti-reflux valves of the Tru-Close drain bag prevent liquids and air from backing up into the catheter or wound drain.
  • All TCS bags come with a standard Luer lock connector to fit all luer-locking drainage catheters
  • TCS500DS comes with two straight connectors to be used with post-surgical wound drains.
  • If the bellows fill, flow to the bag continues via gravity drainage as long as the bag is below the level of the drainage site.
  • Available with empty port
  • Approx. Vacuum:
    • TCS500: 2 PSI(103 mm Hg)
    • TCS500D: 2 PSI(103 mm Hg)
    • TCS500DS: 4.5 PSI(233 mm Hg)

Intended Use:

  • Uresil drainage catheter bag is ideal for collecting drainage fluids.
  • This product is intended for short-term use (more than 24 hours and less than 30 days).

User Guides

What to buy with Drainage Bags

How to use Uresil Tru-Close Suction Drainage System?

Adjusting tube length cut the tube close the empty port compressing the bellows

  • To adjust the tubing length, remove the tube from the top of the housing or pull off the Luer lock connector and cut the tube with scissors to the desired length. (see Figure 1)
  • To change the Luer lock connector to a straight connector for use with a silicone wound drain, cut the TRU-CLOSE Drain tube or remove the adapter and insert the desired connector. (see Figure 2)
  • Attach the Uresil drain bag to the drainage catheter or wound drain.
  • To ensure continuous flow, attach the bag to the patient gown or bedding below the level of the drainage site.
  • If the bag comes with an empty port, twist it closed. (see Figure 3)
  • To activate the system, compress the bellows completely. Do not try to pump the bellows; they will fill as it draws the fluid from the drainage site. If the bellows are not activated after filling, the system will convert to gravity drainage thus preventing fluid backup.
  • To re-activate the system, compress the bellows. The fluid in the bellows will be discharged into the bag and the suction will be re-established. (see Figure 4)
  • The bag is strong enough to withstand a build-up of air pressure within the bag. The bag is equipped with hydrophobic filter vents, which will vent collected air. Air can be manually forced out of the bag by gently squeezing the bag while the system is positioned vertically (housing above bag).
  • Although the graduation marks on the bag are approximations only, approximate volumes collected can be recorded on the white “write -on” area on the bag. When recording these approximations, first empty bellows contents into the bag.

How to empty Uresil Drain Bag?

Empty Truclose drain when it is half full or every 4 to 8 hours:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water.
  • Empty the fluid in the bellows into the bag.
  • Unscrew the port on the bottom of the bag over a measuring cup.
  • Let the fluid drain into the cup.
  • Clean the port with an alcohol swab or a cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol.
  • Squeeze the bellows flat and screw the port closed.
  • Make sure the tubing is not kinked or twisted. Refasten your clothes below your surgery site so it does not pull at your skin.
  • Measure the amount of fluid you pour out. Write down how much fluid you empty from the drain and the date and time you collected it. Bring this record with you to your follow-up visits.
  • Flush the fluid down the toilet. Wash your hands.

Warnings/Precautions:

  • Discard the entire system when the bag is full or when otherwise indicated.
  • Sterile if the package is unopened and undamaged.
  • For single use only.
  • The reuse of this single-use device can lead to patient infection and/or device malfunction.
  • Bags without empty ports only: Do not attempt to empty the bag during use. The bag can be emptied prior to disposal if desired by cutting off the bottom corner of the bag.
