C.A.S.H. Cruciform Anterior Spinal Hyperextension Orthosis uses a three point biomechanical leverage principle to restrict flexion and help stabilize the spine. Pads are joined with a lightweight, totally adjustable low-profile cruciform frame. The control of flexion is obtained by the soft pad, the cruciform frame does not constrict the patient. The pectoral model disperses the posterior force and applies it to the more resilient muscles.

Cruciform Anterior Spinal Hyperextension Orthosis Features

  • Horizontal adjustment 11.25" to 14"
  • Vertical adjustment 12.5" to 18.5"
  • Sternal and pubic pads produce a force opposed by the posterior pad and strap around the thoracolumbar region
  • Sternal and pelvic pads attach to the anterior, metal, cross-shaped bar, which can be bent to reduce excess pressure on the chest and pelvis
  • Provides greater breast and axillary pressure relief
  • Orthosis is safe in the shower, or for use while bathing or sponge bathing
  • To keep skin cool and protected, wear a cotton shirt underneath
  • Brace cleans easily with mild soap and water
  • Latex free
  • Indications:
    - Flexion immobilization to treat thoracic and lumbar vertebral body fractures T6-L1
    - Reduction of kyphosis in patients with osteoporosis

Contraindications:


  • Three-column spinal fractures involving anterior, middle, and posterior spinal structures
  • Compression fractures caused by osteoporosis
  • Ineffective in limiting lateral bending and rotation of the upper lumbar spine
