Vitaflo PKU Express15 Powder Medical Food is phenylalanine-free protein substitute containing essential and non-essential amino acids, carbohydrate, vitamins, minerals and trace elements to meet daily nutritional needs. It is for use in the dietary management of Phenylketonuria (PKU) for people from three years of age.

Important Notice:
- Must only be consumed by people with proven PKU under strict medical supervision
- Suitable from 3 years onwards
- Diet must be supplemented with natural protein, water and other nutrients in prescribed quantities to supply phenylalanine, fluid and general nutritional requirements
- Not for use as a sole source of nutrition
- For enteral use only

More Information

Dosage and Administration:
- Dosage of PKU Express should be determined by the clinician or dietitian and is dependent on the age, body weight and medical condition of the patient.
- The daily protein requirement is given as PKU Express (100gm is equivalent to 60gm of protein)
- Additional protein is provided from exchanges of natural protein, to provide phenylalanine in controlled amounts, which is essential for growth and development.
- Foods high in carbohydrate and fat, but low in protein, should be provided to supply the remainder of the energy
Guidelines for Preparation and Use:
- Empty the contents of a sachet into a beaker (provided) and add cold water to about half way up the beaker (approximately 80ml). Secure the lid and shake for 10 seconds or until powder has dissolved.
- Serve and drink immediately
- Ideally the product should be freshly prepared and used immediately.
- Any unused portions should be refrigerated and used within 24 hours.
- Re-shake before use
Storage:
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Packets are designed for single use and should be used once opened
