- Indications:
- For Silverlon burn care products to be effective and non-adhering, the dressings must remain moist.Sterile water is recommended as the wetting agent - The chloride ion in normal saline reacts with metallic silver to form a precipitate of silver chloride on the metallic silver surface - Subsequently reduces the number of silver ions released - Silverlon has been shown to release in vitro silver ions for up to twelve days - When applied to clinical wounds, the longevity of the Silverlon wound care products depends upon the amount of exudates and cellular debris that cover the silver plated fibers of the fabric - When the silver coated fibers become covered, silver ions are not released and the antimicrobial efficiency decreases
